Direct Action Everywhere (DxE)
2nd February 2016
DxR activists took to the streets with an interactive visual representation of the dairy industry. Using a plush cow as a prop example, activists invite members of the public to act out parts of the dairy process on the prop. Actions such as artificial insemination and chopping off body parts prompted discussion between activists and interacting members of the public. Even though the actions were 'acting out' and the objectified object was a non-sentient prop, discussion on the dairy process was productive and evidently had an impact on the audiences. The display of certain tools used in the dairy industry, such as clamps, knives, blow torch, etc prompted especially shocked and horrified reactions with audiences labeling the table as a torture table.
